The precise and innovative menu presented upstairs at Eight Mile Creek is designed to exemplify modern Australian cooking at its best; full-flavoured food based on the freshest ingredients available that blends well with wine.  Contemporary Australian cuisine involves the mixing of completely different ethnic influences, influences derived from the multicultural populations that make up today’s Australia; from the indigenous population of aboriginals (bush tucker mate!), to the more-established immigrants from Europe, and through to the most recent immigrants from all over nearby Asia.  Hence, it will not be unusual to see the eclectic mix of native Australian fruits, spices, and meats with traditional European and Asian dishes on our menu.  And the proximity of the incredibly diverse Chinatown markets two blocks away ensure that we are able to establish our own Eight Mile Creek stamp…modern Aussie cuisine with a New York twist, if you will!!

Wine is an important facet of everyday life in Australia and, as such, we have strived to make it a significant part of the Aussie dining experience at Eight Mile Creek.  The broad focus of our wine selection is to showcase the many varietals that Australia does best- but with an emphasis on those wines that are structured to cope with the diverse range of flavours presented in our menu.  The current list includes wines from all over Australia, as well as from our neighbours across the Tasman, New Zealand.  And for those that care, we feature Mendocino crystal stems for all wine service in our upstairs dining room, and have Speigelau decanters available for airing those tighter-knit, fuller-bodied wines prior to drinking.

From the ochre-coloured walls to the slate creek path along the floor, the décor is Australian in attitude and style without being obvious or tacky…there are no kangaroos or koalas glued to the walls, and there is no bloody way you'll ever find a “bloomin onion” on the menu here!
